Here we go again with another molasses-smothered rendition of The Cupcake Movement. For this one, we’re gonna go back a few years and let Bilal, Mos Def, and Common do the rest. Yessir, this track certainly brings back some good times… “Reminisce”… how fitting, right?
“…damn, can the effects of love and time / cause the mind to trick the eye?
I wonder how you’re getting by / and are the stars still in your eyes?…”
Straight up poetry right there.
I know this sounds familiar to some (if not most) of you cupcakers out there:
It’s Friday morning, sun peeking through the window, and a special someone is in your arms. You’re both still a little buzzed from the previous night but it’s all good – you’re cupcaking and you just want to take it all in. You’re thinking to yourself “mmn…. this is nice… this IS definitely nice.”
So you’re there… living in the moment… until you remember you have this little thing called “a job.” smh… so you get up and start serenading your girl with this:
Just call in, b. It’s a Friday anyway. Call in. Tell the boss you came down with H1N1.
Happy Tuesday, cupcakers! Yup, another day and I’m in currently in a great mood. I’ll blame it on a good lunch, great interview, some nice Monopoly game pieces (holler at Teknikscian if you have any free McD’s pieces), and great music. Speaking of which… I felt like you guys might enjoy this little track from The Procussions and Kweli.
Mmmmn….
The Cupcake Movement Presents: Luther Vandross – “Never too much”

Im not even sure if nougat can get this creamy and sweet (I think that deserves a no homo). This track right here, man, catchy and loving.
All my cupcake eating sugar addicts out there need this in their collection; this is what I like to call bubble bath music.
The Cupcake Movement presents: SA-RA Creative Partners – “My Star”

Wednesday’s winding down and we’re on a collision course with the weekend. What better way to go down that path by having this tune in the iPod. All I can say is…. “cot….damn!” I currently have this track on repeat… yessir… by virtue of it’s smooth, sugary sweetness. I won’t deny it. The beat just rides perfectly, encouraging you and your significant other (for the night) to nod your heads. And the singer? *whew* She laces the track with something angelic. I think I’m in like.
The Cupcake Movement Presents: J Dilla – “Baby”

Extra Sucrose.
Welp… it’s that time of day again and I’ll admit… cupcaking sounds good right about now. You know what else sounds good? Peep game:
Phonte is underrated. Once again, the dude comes through. I swear this is a Foreign Exchange track.
The Cupcake Movement Presents: Jimmy Cozier – “Shes all I got”
October 6, 2009
Well…
…Not only is dudes name the epitome of cupcake (cozier…cozy-er, like cozyer with your sugar pie) but the track describes how all of us cupcakers feel at some point. The track can even be transgressed to other aspects of life. Sometimes I love updating this joint, sometimes I dont…sue me.
The Cupcake Movement presents: Ghostface Killah – “Baby”

Another cool autumn night here in Cali (I’m talking 54 degrees with 77% humidity and a dew point of 47 degrees F) and I know you cupcakers all around are taking advantage of this splendid setting. Crisp, cool air, leaves turning brown, the smell of green tea and incense…. ahh yeah – that’s what’s up. But… something’s missing…
…it’s all good. I got you. Ghostface Killah aka Tony Starks.
Auto-tune usually gets annoying but in this case, it works. It works just enough to make me want to say wedding vows in Auto-tune. Uh huh!
Autumn has arrived, cupcakers, and this can only mean the holidays are right around the corner. If you’re the type who just absolutely needs to cupcake by the fireplace this time of year, well, do we have a track for you:
Yessir. So grab that freshly brewed pumpkin spice latte and just vibe to the smoothness. If you’re lucky to land someone for the holidays, congrats. If not, well, at least you’ll be saving money.
